My name is Derek, I have lived in Lanarkshire all my life and have been married to my wife Linda for 26 years, I have two grown up children Vicky and Callum and two west highland terriers Bonnie and Jock. I am available for weddings, civil partnerships, naming ceremonies and funerals. For over 25 years I served my community as a Funeral Director.
Over my career I have encountered many different types of people and conducted and arranged many different types of funeral service. I discovered that to conduct a funeral service is an enormous privilege and an extremely rewardingexperience. Getting to knowbereavedfamilies at such a sad time in their lives, and helping them through the process of arranging a funeral, which reflects the life of their loved one is the best gift I could give to them. In fact the funeral service is the last gift we can give to the person who has passed away, that is why it is so important to get it right.
I believe a funeral is a time of powerful emotion, of reconciliation and final goodbyes. Most of all it should be sensitive, dignified and as unique as the person whose life you are honouring. My duties will include working closely with you to create a personal and unique ceremony. A home visit, unlimited telephone and email contact, planning your order of service with you, a draft ceremony for checking, liasing with your Funeral Director or wedding venue, delivery of service at your venue of choice and a copy of your service for you to keep.
The service you choose, wither it's for a funeral or a wedding can be formal, informal, non religious or with aspects of religion brought in ‚- the choice is yours. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and computing. I am a member of Historic Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland and have a passion for history. Please contact me for an informal, no obligation chat at anytime.
