Wedding and Funeral Celebrant in Hertfordshire

Hello, my name is Floyd Brown, and I am a Wedding and Funeral celebrant based on the Herts, Beds and Bucks borders which gives me access to a wide variety of towns in all three Counties. Like a lot of my fellow celebrants my route to the UKSOC began with seeing a Celebrant in action at a close friend’s funeral. What struck me immediately, was in contrast to other funerals I have attended, how personal it all felt. This led me to looking into celebrants and onto becoming a celebrant. Having looked at various websites I landed on the UKSOC website where I discovered a whole new world of what is possible not only at a funeral but at any of life’s ceremonies. Encouraged by family and friends I enrolled into the UKSOC Family and Funeral Diploma training program.

The training is very thorough and intense at times but under the guidance of my mentor I have been taught the skills required to ensure I have the ability to listen carefully and ensure I get all the information required for composing script or a life story for whatever occasion I am called for from anywhere on the celebration spectrum.

I will always strive to compose and deliver a unique ceremony for your memorable occasion, be that a Wedding where perhaps you would like to introduce some ceremonial elements such as “Ring Warming” or “Unity Candles” Renewal of Vows or a Baby Naming or perhaps even a Commitment ceremony as an alternative to a wedding ceremony.

The crucial point is that whatever the occasion I will always endeavour to ensure that your requests at the centre of the ceremony.

Be that a themed ceremony or even a light-hearted funeral service that may have been requested by the deceased. You may even wish to add a small religious element in an otherwise secular service. I like to think that within reason (and the law) anything is possible.
In my professional life I have for many years been in Health Care working primarily in cardiac services. The last 12 years have been in providing high level technical assistance to health care providers who have patients with implanted devices. This work has taken me all around Europe not only working with doctors and other Allied Professionals in hospitals but also presenting to patient groups of all ages who sometimes may not like what they hear.
Also, within this role I have spent time teaching my peer groups on specialised subjects which has sharpened my presenting skills and I hope bringing some drama into what I am saying.
In my personal life as the father of four grown up “boys” and with a wide-ranging extended family there is very little in family life that I will not have encountered at one level or another.
These skills gained over a lifetime, which may not seem at first glimpse to obviously translate into being a celebrant, have taught me how to converse with empathy and focus with people from all walks of life in sometimes very difficult and stressful moments of their life.
These skills along with the thorough training given by UKSOC has given me the tools to compose and deliver a bespoke ceremony for all of life’s big occasions.
I look forward to speaking to you and being given the opportunity to compose a special ceremony for you.
