Donna Maria Palmer | Family & Funeral Celebrant

My name is Donna Palmer, I moved to the Dorset area with my husband and grown up son two years ago to be near my family and improve my own quality of life.
I have been working in Health and Social care for the elderly living with dementia for over 15 years. Much of this time is spent supporting family, friends and loved ones who are facing a very challenging time, not only losing someone dear to dementia but also losing them at the end of their life. It has been so important to me to ensure that those affected receive emotional and practical support. Getting to know the residents through their life stories has provided me with compassionate skills which has developed patience, sensitivity and a keen understanding of others.

In the past I have organised charity events and party celebrations. I have a passion in supporting others to enjoy life and find this experience a privilege.

I have excellent communication skills, I have compassion and empathy towards others needs, wishes and preferences. I believe in a person centred approach whenever and wherever I am needed to be, to place others at the centre of everything I do.

I also have a teaching qualification for life long learning. A role I throughly enjoyed, meeting different people from different backgrounds in different areas was a great experience and taught me a great deal about myself. I am creative, organised and have the skills and confidence to deliver to a group of people, listen and determine different ideas and thoughts.

I wrote a personal speech for my mothers funeral and recently my Aunts. I also wrote a speech for my own wedding, As a manager I support individuals professionally and personally. So here I am following my heart to become a celebrant.

I believe in equality and diversity, and have thought for a while that becoming a celebrant would be the perfect opportunity to help others in sadness and in happiness.

I enjoy travelling, socialising and time spent with loved ones. I keep myself healthy and active and have a sound sense of humour.

As a family celebrant I will be called upon to celebrate the birth of a child, the joining of a couple or a death of a loved one. On each occasion I would work closely with you to ensure all your wishes are adhered to. You will be provided with all the time and guidance you need for your occasion to meet all your expectations
