Hello, my name is Russ Kennedy. I’m originally from East London. In 2009 I moved to Glossop following the death of my mother. My parents weren’t regular church goers and so I was neither encouraged nor discouraged from attending. As executor, it was down to me to arrange my mothers’ funeral and I complied with her request to be cremated. I met up with the gentleman conducting the ceremony and explained what we wanted, including a few of Mums “choice” words of advice to be read out on the day. I was more than a little disappointed when he left out the most important ones. Frankly, I felt that the ceremony could have been better and I realised that had I conducted it myself it most probably would have been. It is something I will always regret and given the opportunity I would go back in time and do it myself. I’m sure the excellent firm of undertakers I instructed would be more than happy to assist me.
I had my first experience of a celebrant conducted wedding ceremony when I was asked to perform at the wedding of a close friend. She married her husband at a castle in Scotland and even cut the cake with a Claymore. It was a brilliant day and a fabulous experience, the like of which I hope to have the honour of being part of again.
Now having trained as a Celebrant with UK Society of Celebrants, my aim is to assist you by creating a bespoke ceremony tailored to your individual requirements. Be it for a wedding, a naming or a funeral ceremony, I’ll endeavour to work with you and your representatives to create and present a professional, meaningful, respectful and memorable ceremony.
Please do not hesitate to call or drop me a line if you have any questions about your special life event, it’s what I’m here for.
