I was born in Barnet, Hertfordshire and grew up in Potters Bar. I am married to Peter, and we have two grown up sons and a granddaughter.
For the last 27 years, I have worked for Autism Anglia (formerly The Essex Autistic Society) as a teacher and Further Education Department Manager. This role has been challenging and rewarding, offering as it does the opportunity to work with 16 to 19 year olds at a critical point in their development, primarily to facilitate the development of rounded individuals who have maximised their potential for academic, social and life skills.
My qualifications are; BTech Art and Design, Diploma of Higher Education, BA Hons, PGCE, MA in Contemporary Art and Professional practice. I am an artist, who has exhibited widely and my interests are making art, walking my dog, and being with family and friends.
I have come to civil celebrancy after being involved in organising funerals for close family members. I found that the ceremonies which resonated most with everyone were those that were personalised to the needs of the family. I want to create bespoke ceremonies that are meaningful, personal and relevant to those involved and enable families to celebrate their event in the best way possible. So I will strive to create a ceremony that is tailored to individual needs and are specific to those involved, celebrating your experiences and memories on the day.
