Wedding & Funeral Celebrant in Bath

Hello, thanks for looking at my profile. My name is Jill and I’m a family and funeral celebrant. Having just returned to the South West after a few years away, I serve the Bath, Somerset, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and Dorset areas.

I hope that what I say here will make you feel we could work well together to create just the right ceremony for you, your family and your friends.

When I set out to train as a celebrant, I thought mainly of my Grandfather’s funeral.

The person officiating at that ceremony could have been talking about anyone, not the man I knew and loved. They got his name right, but apart from that there was nothing of the twinkly smile, his experience as a soldier, his drinking buddy Bert and how he met my Grandma ( working in a Lancashire cotton factory). I was very upset at that impersonal approach.

I am determined that no one else should feel the way I did all those years ago.

So when it comes to writing and delivering  weddings, funerals, baby namings, vow renewals, memorials  –  any event where families come together to share life’s ups and downs – I make sure that the people involved are happy with what is being said, and what is planned for the ceremony.

Getting through life can be a tough old business, exciting and exhausting in equal measure. We all try our best to succeed at work, in our friendships and relationships and to keep our loved ones safe and secure. We deserve to celebrate our successes and be compassionate when things haven’t worked out the way we’d like.

I create personal, bespoke ceremonies which include specific, relevant and special moments. Whatever we’re there to commemorate or celebrate, there can be heightened emotion and a mixture of laughter and tears – these ceremonies are about real people, with real feelings.

We are not bound by traditional ceremonial ties, although we can include some if we choose to. I will make sure that between us we create an experience which will mean something special to you and the people you invite to share it.

Professionally I have spent much of my career in arts and theatre - encouraging people to tell their stories in a creative way.

Personally, I have volunteered in food banks and as a school Governor, and have served on various charity boards.  Having raised two children ( including emigrating with them as teenagers to the US for 5 years), lost both parents, been married and divorced, and  with a few other big life events along the way,  my experience makes me an empathetic listener.

I will work closely with you.

I will ask the right questions, listen to your answers, and I will deliver a memorable ceremony for your friends and family.

Being a celebrant is a very special privilege.
