Hi! I'm Rosie, and I'm a family and funeral celebrant based in Newcastle upon Tyne, serving areas around the North East and beyond. I travel regularly all over the UK and further afield, and live with my husband and naughty cats. I've been working as a professional musician and singer for the past 10 years, and have found that my skills transfer to being a celebrant very well! I'm completely at ease speaking to and performing in front of groups of people both large and small, and know how to engage an audience with confidence.

In addition to performing, I also have experience as a singing teacher - a huge part of that work is helping people to open up in judgement-free environment, and feeling comfortable. This is something that I can bring to this work, helping and supporting you in an open, non-judgemental way. My background in performance and teaching have shown me that people coming together in joy or sorrow, with curiosity or compassion is what really interests me.

I'm a very open and warm person - I came to this line of work when I realised that my skills and demeanour were ideally suited to help people through potentially difficult or confusing times that they might be experiencing. I'm also fascinated by the meaning that ritual and tradition can bring to our lives - especially those of us that don't come from a religious or traditional background. It means that we can find belonging and meaning in secular practices, and choose ceremonies that feel meaningful to us. Life's ritual moments deserve to be created with care and attention, words chosen for poignancy, and ceremonial elements selected with thoughtfulness.

People who have been left behind by the mainstream are often excluded from traditional ceremonies and life experiences. It's very important to me to create space so that we can all experience a wedding, funeral, or naming ceremony that truly reflects us, no matter our age, background, sexuality or gender identity. A wedding can be beautiful and meaningful if you follow an alternative lifestyle - there are no rigid customs that have to be followed! A funeral can truly reflect who you or your loved ones were authentically - a true celebration of life. Naming ceremonies don't just have to be for babies - what about a trans person who is leaving their deadname behind and wants a ceremony to celebrate their identity? I believe that these, and other ceremonies, should be available and personalised for everyone.

I offer a bespoke script-writing service for ceremonies of all types - weddings, funerals, civil partnerships, memorials and naming ceremonies. I will work alongside you - as an individual, couple, group, or family - to create the celebration or memorial of your choosing. We can select poems and readings, music and other ceremonial elements together, and design a unique ceremony that suits you perfectly. I will then perform the ceremony on the day, bringing the words that you've chosen to life.
