Wedding Celebrant in East Sussex
Hello, my name is Rose Dykins and I’m a family, wedding celebrant based in East Sussex. I mainly conduct wedding ceremonies in and around Brighton and East Sussex, and also occasionally in London.
Congratulations on your engagement! How are you feeling?
Having recently got married, and I fully remember the stresses and obstacles that come with wedding planning. At times, it can feel like everyone has an opinion on what you should or shouldn’t be doing (who knew your future brother-in-law had such a strong views about bridesmaids’ dresses…)
As a celebrant, my job is to help you and your partner cut through the noise and create a wedding ceremony that truly reflects and celebrates who you are as a couple.
In my experience, the very best weddings are the ones where people do exactly what they want to do – even if others think it’s “basic” or completely random (I personally walked down the aisle to “Ruby Soho” by Rancid and we had a unicorn and a zombie on top of our wedding cake, and it was great!) If a song, reading, outfit, theme, person or any other element means something important to you, there’s a place for it in your wedding ceremony, and we can make it happen.
I became a celebrant, because I love storytelling and because I find nothing more heartwarming than two people standing in front of everyone they care about to share how much they love each other.
My friends would describe me as genuine, and as a good listener with a warm, friendly, calm personality and a playful side. I love to laugh – it’s pretty easy to get a laugh out of me to be honest – and I guarantee I will be beaming from ear to ear as you walk down the aisle towards me!
Down-to-earth romance with a personal touch
If you’re looking for a wedding ceremony that will remind the two of you exactly why you first fell in love – I would be honoured to create it for you!
We’ll sit down together and capture your “down-to-earth romance” – filled with the honest, touching, “golden nuggets” that make your relationship special. I will ask you questions, and help unearth the thoughts, memories and moments that make up your love story. Your ceremony will be a complete one-off - just like your relationship – and we’ll find the right words to show exactly why you chose each other.
As a professional writer and creative producer, I work with people to listen to their experiences and help them express what they want to say. I’ve previously worked as a travel writer and copywriter, and these days, I also work part time as the producer for the award-winning Museum of Ordinary People in Brighton.
It should go without saying – and I hope that one day it will – but in the mean time, I am committed to inclusivity, anti-racism, understanding your beliefs, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community to have the weddings of their dreams. I feel hopeful that the wedding industry is evolving to move with the times to become more progressive, and I want to be a part of that change. Your ceremony will be led by you, your values and your ideas - and my role is to listen, support and suggest ways to make these shine through.
On your big day, I will be there to calmly have your back, and deliver a fun, moving, truly memorable ceremony that’s completely personal to the two of you, and that sets a joyful tone for the celebrations ahead!
