Wedding Celebrant in the Shetland Islands

My name is Hazel Anderson, and I am a Family and Funeral Celebrant, living on the beautiful Shetland Isles!!

Shetland is situated on the 60degree North line of latitude, as are Oslo in Norway, Helsinki in Finland, Saint Petersburg in Russia, Newfoundland in Canada, Greenland, and Alaska! Our climate is fairly temperate, due to being at the edge of the Gulf Stream, so we don't have the extreme temperatures that can be experienced in the other locations mentioned. (So we don't do Snow all that well... or if we do, it doesn't stay very long!!)

So... what can I do for you? Well... a Family or Funeral Celebrant is someone who is trained to assist clients in the writing and delivery of any of the 'Rites of Passage' events that we are likely to experience in our lifetimes. So, if you are planning a Wedding, or thinking to have a naming Ceremony for your child or children, or perhaps are having to consider organising a funeral for someone, then I can help you to create and write the Ceremony, and can deliver it for you, or better still with you, at a venue of your choosing,

There are some beautiful and stunning locations in Shetland, if you're looking for beaches or cliffs as a backdrop for your big day; we also have a few castles and some 'brochs' (Iron-Age round-houses) should you be in search of an 'old' location.
And should you have a yearning for some Viking traditions in your Celebration, where better to be than the home of the renowned Up-Helly-Aa festival, where once a year, at the end of January, this amazing spectacle is held, to celebrate the end of the darkness (winter), and the coming of the light (Summer), where we look forward to long summer daylight... or the 'Simmer Dim', as it is known.

At 60 North Celebrant Services, the aim is to offer to create, write and deliver, any Ceremony that you might wish to have, at a place and time of your choosing, in a style that you would like (providing that it's still legal!!)
I can meet with you to help you to plan the type of Ceremony that you would like to see delivered, and will be happy to incorporate as much, or as little family input, or not, as is required.

As a Celebrant trained by the UK Society of Celebrants, we are flexible, in that we can incorporate Hymns and Prayers, if a client wishes, or not, if you don't! So we can go 'Traditional', or we can go 'Contemporary', according to what you would like. Even a bit of 'mix and match' is possible; it's entirely down to the wishes of my clients.

As a native Shetlander, I have lived and worked all my life in and around these islands, so naturally have got to know the islands and its people quite well. As a qualified Tour Guide also, the knowledge learned doing that is transferrable to being a Celebrant, and being 'current' with what's on offer for folk who would like to know more.

I have been interested in reading since childhood, and my degree from Queen Margaret University was in 'Information Management', so hopefully you're getting the picture. Someone once described my writing skills as "Hazel doesn't use 3 words when 33 could do". A rather dubious compliment perhaps, but hey, I'll go with it!!
