I live and work in Central Scotland, but have also lived and worked in the West Lothian area for 15 years, and Aberdeenshire for 11 years. After gaining my degree, my career path has always connected me to people - adults, teenagers and children, so I understand the importance of listening and transforming the wishes and ideas of others into a meaningful, memorable and considerate occasion. Communication is so important to human beings – especially at the more stressful times in life. It is my aim to help you through these important times by working in partnership with you to communicate your thoughts, aspirations and ideas in your own unique style. As the youngest of a fairly large family, I have attended and participated in almost every life event a family goes through – some happy, some sad, but all of them memorable for one reason or another. After attending a family wedding where the couple had actively participated in personalising their ceremony, I was moved by how special this could be - for them and their guests. The seed of an idea had been planted, and in talking to friends and family, I realised that my life experiences mean I have the skills necessary to help others have just such a special day for themselves. That’s when I decided to train to become a Civil Celebrant! Subsequent research and investigation meant I crossed paths with some very kind and helpful souls who showed me how critical it is that the Civil Celebrant helps families, not just at the happy and cheerful events, but on the less joyous, end of life occasions too. Having reached an opportune point in my life and career, I realised it was an “if not now – when?” kind of moment.
As a Civil Family and Funeral Celebrant, I will be there to write and deliver the ceremonies that acknowledge and celebrate the landmarks of your life, such as naming ceremonies, Wedding Blessings, Renewal of Vows, Funerals and Memorials. Attention to detail and a keen desire to get things “just right” means that I will endeavour to create the right ceremony for you, as I truly believe that you should be able to mark the special occasions in your life, your way. However, my beliefs and choices are of no consequence - on these occasions in your life it really is “all about you”. Remember – “Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. “
