Wedding and Funeral Celebrant in Kent
I am a Family, Wedding and Funeral Celebrant in Kent and I work across the South East of England, helping people to celebrate their life events. As well as weddings and funerals, I officiate at naming ceremonies.
I am the proud mother of grown children and enjoying life with beautiful young grand children who keep me busy and bring pure joy.
Alongside my family I have two gorgeous springers Ivy and Myrtle. Life with these two crazy beings is never dull, pretty muddy and full of positive, happy energy. The three of us walk and travel together enjoying the fresh air, landscapes and each other’s company every day. Alongside this, creating work, my garden and precious times with friends, life is pretty good.
I am an artist and over the last couple of decades worked as an Art Teacher within mainstream and SEN education.
My career in teaching means that I have strong skills in communication, commitment, writing and public speaking, alongside empathy, flexibilty, enthusiasm and creativity. I had long considered training as a celebrant but pressures on time and energy just worked against that ambition whilst still fully committing to the students and families.
I had been to weddings, funerals and vow renewals led by celebrants and the desire to work towards this, quite simply, grew and grew. I was always so impressed by the individuality and personalised ceremonies. It was also so clear from the comments before, during and after these occasions from families and friends how perfect they had found the whole process with a celebrant.
In recent years our family suffered a loss and we chose a celebrant to lead the celebration of life. Our celebrant could not have been more supportive, informative and ‘there for us’. That experience for me sealed the deal and I made the changes to begin my new career.
Now I find myself happily on that path and enjoying my working life.
I enjoy working alongside people to create and deliver ceremonies that incorporate all that they feel will best suit them. Although I am based in Kent, I am happy to travel and deliver ceremonies throughout the south of the UK.
It is a complete honour to be involved with important events and ceremonies, and I can deliver funerals, weddings, including hand fasting ceremonies and jumping the broom, vow renewals, memorials and civil ceremonies. Life is full of moments, memories, journeys, stories and celebrations - not just the ones I have mentioned. A ceremony can mark any of those events and I would be pleased to craft a ceremony script and deliver any of these.
Our initial meeting can be by telephone, online such as Zoom or Skype, or in person.
I have excellent listening and organisational skills, and a good sense of humour, so from that initial meeting until the actual day, I will work with you to produce something bespoke and personal for that ceremony. Sharing ideas, telling your story, reflecting the person, capturing and reflecting the journey and working alongside personal spiritual beliefs are all important parts of that creative process. Should it include elements of a traditional ceremony, pagan or Celtic aspects or completely reflecting personalities and interests, I will create and professionally deliver your ceremony.
I am also very supportive of any family, friends, and children who would like to take part in ceremonies such as readings and activities. I can liaise with venues and visit during the planning alongside individuals, couples and families should that be required.
My aim is to support an occasion that is all that you want and leaves you with cherished thoughts, good memories that make you smile. I will provide a memento copy of your wedding ceremony, celebration of life and naming ceremony certificate.
