Funeral Celebrant in Stockport, Tameside and Greater Manchester
Welcome to my profile page; it’s lovely to meet you!
I’m David, a Funeral Celebrant living in Greater Manchester. I serve the Stockport, Tameside and entire Greater Manchester area, but can travel further afield on request.
Why Am I a Funeral Celebrant?
After a career at a major university, I decided to explore working in an area which would be even more fulfilling.
Following the death of a close friend, I’d developed an appreciation of good funeral ceremonies, and my interest grew. To test the waters, I took on a part-time role as a funeral arranger, then became a full-time Funeral Director.
Helping people to remember and celebrate the life of their loved one was simply the most fulfilling thing I'd ever done. And I appeared to have the right skills to do the job well.
Wanting to improve the levels of service to even more people, I became an area manager, managing funeral arrangers, funeral directors and funeral homes from Manchester and Stockport through Cheshire to the outskirts of Merseyside.
But the most meaningful part of my work was (and remains) to make sure that families are able to celebrate the lives of their loved ones, and say goodbye to them, in ways that are right for them.
Being an independent Funeral Celebrant means that, now, I’m now able to devote all my time to doing just that.
What About Me?
My enthusiasms include reading, writing, and family history. Music also features: I studied singing at the Manchester School of Music in the early ‘80s, and am currently learning piano – though I’m very definitely a beginner!
For our down-times, my wife and I particularly enjoy visiting Yorkshire and the Cotswolds, where we indulge our love of fabulous scenery, historic locations, and the arts.
How Can I Help You?
My role as a Funeral Celebrant is to make sure that your loved one’s funeral or memorial ceremony is personal and meaningful. With a record of professional involvement in many hundreds of funerals, you can be sure I have the knowledge and expertise needed to provide you with the best possible service.
The ceremonies I create and lead are as varied as the people whose lives they celebrate. Every person is an individual; so every ceremony is individual, too.
Some prefer rather traditional ceremonies; others, something a little out of the ordinary. The important thing is that it’s appropriate to the person we’re remembering. Whatever your thoughts, I’ll gladly explore how we can reflect those in the best way possible.
Many ceremonies are entirely secular, but others include elements from spiritual or religious traditions. I 've worked with people from a variety of religious and spiritual backgrounds, including Christian, Buddhist, Pagan, and 12-Step programmes.
Start With a Chat
Every funeral or memorial ceremony starts with a chat. It’s a great, no-obligation way for you to find out if I’m the right Celebrant for you. Whether you prefer to contact me by email or phone, I look forward to hearing from you and exploring how I can help.
Business Matters
Although independent, I’m proud to be a member of the United Kingdom Society of Celebrants (UKSOC) and the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC).
I’m also an enthusiastic signatory to the Funeral Celebrancy Council’s Funeral Celebrant Accord and adhere to the standards outlined in the Accord.
For your peace of mind, I hold Public Liability (£5,000,000) and Professional Indemnity Insurance (£1,000,000).
